Woodcombe Lodges & Cottages – Things to do
Visit West Somerset Railway
Minehead boasts the start point for the longest Heritage railway in England with some 20 miles of track running along the coast and through some stunning Somerset countryside. Entertainment for young and old.
This old branch line of the Great Western Railway has been preserved for you to experience steam and diesel locomotives running between the ten country stations from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. This year there has been a shuttle service running on into Taunton run by GWR during the summer as well.
Our guests use the experience in a number of ways by either just riding end to end, calling off at different stations, cycling one way and riding back or walking between stations or riding out and walking back to Woodcombe.
There are various special trips that they do from time to time with Fish & Chip suppers, Thomas the Tank Engine, Santa’s Christmas Special, Murder and Mystery trips and Dunster by Candlelight for example. Bicycles and dogs are allowed on board.
There are disabled access facilities for wheel chair users although it is best to book with them particularly if there is more than one user.
